Debating buying my first bike

I’m a 23 year old guy who has been on the back of a few bikes. Before I didn’t really understand the hype, but that all changed after my first time as a backpack. I got this feeling that I can’t explain and I decided I’m going to ride at some point. I thought this summer could finally be the time but over the winter I fractured my collarbone and am currently at the tail end of my recovery. Part of me wants to give it a shot as soon as the doctor clears me and get a good used bike, but another part of me think I should wait a year and save my money for a new bike.

Also I honestly can’t decide if I wanna go with a cruiser like an older chain driven shadow or a newer sport bike like a ninja or cbr. Thoughts?
