The other day, I posted my experience with a bracket popping off just 3 days before my scheduled debond appointment: https://www.reddit.com/r/braces/s/uEBI6Sru2Y

My front bottom tooth shifted astonishingly quickly, and long story short, I didn’t get my braces removed yesterday. Instead, my ortho had a new bracket glued on, new wire put in, said “well that’s a bummer,” and told me to come back in 2 more MONTHS.

Frankly, 8 weeks just seems like an unnecessarily long amount of time for this tiny of a setback. After reattaching a bracket, the tooth has literally already moved back about 90% to where it’s supposed to be after one day.

Would be crazy of me to call the office and ask if they can see me again any sooner? 8 weeks just truly seems SO long and pointless to me when the one thing holding me back from removal has already been fixed this quickly.

I understand that the bone needs to heal around the tooth after it’s moved… but 8 WEEKS? From what I found on the guidelines Damon has listed on their website (I have Damon system braces), adjustments are suggested to be 4 weeks apart at the end of treatment for final little tweaks like this.

I feel like the office is wasting my time, and it’s a very very popular office in my area, so part of me almost wonders if it’s just because they have too many patients to fit me in sooner.

Has anyone ever asked if they can come back to “check in” on progress sooner to keep things moving along? I also was told on the phone when I called about my broken bracket that sometimes they can just order a few trays of Invisalign for no additional cost to finish out treatment, but that wasn’t mentioned to me as an option at all. They just slapped another bracket on and I felt like I was not getting a say in what was going on at what was supposed to be my debonding appointment. Would it be reasonable to call and ask if I can come back any sooner, or have my braces removed and do a few trays of Invisalign instead to finish things off?

I’m really not trying to be problematic, but I am starting to just be totally over the whole thing and I want my braces off since I was supposed to get them off yesterday, and the 1 problem holding me back from that seems to pretty much already be fixed.

First photo is from Monday, second photo is from earlier today where my tooth has already almost completely shifted back into place already.
