Solar O&M in the Middle East (50°C+): Who actually has boots on the ground in KSA/UAE for after-sales?
Mates, I'm running a few C&I solar + BESS projects across Riyadh and the Northern Emirates. Another summer is coming and honestly the thing keeping me up at night isn't CAPEX, it's the 20-year O&M.
Last August we had an inverter control board fail on a rooftop site in Riyadh. The European manufacturer took nearly 6 weeks to get a replacement shipped from Germany. Meanwhile ambient was hitting 52°C and our client was losing generation every single day. Never again.
Who runs a properly staffed service center in Riyadh or Dubai? Not a "regional partner" but an actual warehouse with spare parts and field engineers.
We've got two projects that need to connect this year and I don't want to be chasing paperwork for months.
If you've been through the commissioning-to-O&M transition with any vendor in the GCC I'd love to hear how it actually went.
