Scale Obsession

Advice: Seeking ❓

Hey guys!

I wanted to lose ~20lbs and I’m about 7-9 lbs down so far in a little under 2 months.

My weight fluctuates a lot day to day, but I’m finding myself becoming obsessed with the scale. I weigh myself in the morning, when I get home from work, before I go to bed.

If I have a low weight at bedtime and I don’t drop as much as I expect by “morning”, I’m trying to go to the bathroom, walking around a bit, etc to get that number lower- on the off chance that my body hasn’t caught up. Same thing at night time if I think I have risen too much from the morning weight.

If I’m being honest, I’ve been “scale obsessed” for a while, but I wasn’t actively in a calorie deficit/tracking so I didn’t feel such a need to obsess over the individual days.

I don’t know if I would be able to stop weighing myself everyday, but maybe that’s the scale talking. I think if I were to weigh weekly or every couple of days, I would find myself thinking I should weigh multiple times/something is off/etc because it’s just one datapoint compared to multiple.

Any tips on not letting it run my life?
