Preferred platform for selling sneakers?
Hi so I’m kind of an anything and everything reseller, but I don’t have a lot of experience with sneakers quite yet. I do downsizing, and a new client of mine gave me about 40 pairs from his collection to sell. Most are used, some heavily some lightly, and a few are brand new. The used ones I would say majority are either used excellent or used good, (going off ebay standards.)
I’ve been shopping around for platforms to list on. I mainly use eBay and Depop, eBay for everything and Depop just for clothes (but I always cross list my Depop stuff to eBay as well). I thought about doing Stock X for the new pairs, but I’ve heard negative things before about them writing off authentic items as fake, and sending them back to the seller all beat up. Also I know Stock X is really only for new stuff, and since that’s not the majority of what I have I’m not sure it’s worth my time.
I set up an account on GOAT, (or whatever the other app is that they have the sellers use) as I saw they do new and lightly used. GOAT actually gives you a $ based on the condition and size and stuff you put in, and I’ve noticed that the recommended $ I get from GOAT is WAYYYY higher than what people list the same shoes for on Depop, and sold comps on eBay. Example I have a used excellent condition pair Supreme x Nike SB Blazer Low GT, GOAT told me $300 (I believe it said something about the size I have not being in stock at all). Current Depop listings for those shoes range from $80-199, and eBay for about the same, but only sold pair on ebay sold for like $60.
So part of me is like, should I just list at the GOAT price? Or should I follow the pricing trends of each individual platform? The other thing is- obviously ebay is the most widely used platform overall, but the fees compared to Depop and GOAT are astronomical. And I have to factor that in since this is a downsizing thing so I still have to pay out 1/2 of the net sales to the client. So part of me is tempted to just skip ebay for this all together, but I also don’t want to sit on these shoes forever, and realistically, i don’t think they’ll sell as quickly on GOAT or Depop as they would on ebay.
