Is it possible to complete an apprenticeship while being in a management role?

Discussion

Long story short, I wanted to become an optician through an apprenticeship. I tried Walamart, Sam's Club, Costco and some other places and they all said they would prefer to train someone with some optical experience. One of the opticians recommended that I try to get hired at a retail optical place to get some experience first.

So, I got hired at a retail optical chain and I've been working there for a month. I really like it, but I'm making actual peanuts for pay. Like less than a McDonald's employee. But this is the only place that ended up hiring me, so I'm making it work.

I talked to my manager about opticianry, and he said that the company can have me as an apprentice so that I can get my license eventually. I was stoked to hear this. But then today, my manager told me that I've been learning really fast and would like to promote me to be one of the assistant managers. Doing this would raise my pay, but I'm worried it would intefere with my main goal. Has anyone done an apprenticeship while being in a manager position? Is it too much to handle? Not sure what to do
