Considering a move and need assurance that my budgeting works
I have been living in the same apartment with roommates paying extremely little (about 10% of my annual income, for context).
I recently had a birthday and the day after I woke up and it hit me that I don’t want roommates anymore, so I’m now looking to move. I found and applied for a unit this evening that is perfect for me, but because I’ve been paying so little, I’m having sticker shock.
The new apartment would be 32.5% of my annual income and is ~60% of my monthly take home of what hits my bank account biweekly.
I qualify for the apartment and they’ve told me it’s mine if it want it. It’s in the neighborhood I want, is a true 1 bed as opposed to studio, has outdoor space, and keeps my commute short.
Am I overthinking this? Thanks for any perspective.
