Career in US:
Following my internal medicine residency. I applied for a cardiology fellowship.
It was quite disappointing that I did not match, but eventually, doors opened for me for an ACGME-accredited Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology fellowship.
I am amazed by this field and how dynamic cardiology is. We have to learn and update ourselves every 6 months, maybe even more often than our iPhone/MacBook/iPad.
Now I can proudly say, yes, I have thrombolysed patients with acute STEMI with streptokinase (the very old method of treating STEMI in places without a cath lab), and I have also seen LVADs, including the experimental BrioVAD, as well as heart transplants in patients with end-stage heart failure.
While I will be graduating in a couple of weeks, this year has been a great experience - satisfying despite the hard work and learning involved. I have grown exponentially in this one year.
Beyond this, I continued working with my Mentees and authored several publications relevant to my field.
I continued to contribute and learn from the u/MetaAnalysisAcademy. If you are interested, dm. me or join the waitlist using this link https://m.metaanalysisacademy.com/mrunalini-en
