Canadian Sovereignty

With the whole gimmick of the Canadian government pretending that it isn’t sovereign over tribal land, let it be acknowledged that the Canadian government is not any less powerful because of this. It can quell trucker protests, censor dissent, and it’s probably going to be the entity forcing people off of the allegedly tribal land. While traditional notions of sovereignty do come off as very statist and pro-government upon a cursory glance, they do create expectations and obligations that the liberals balk at. The government doesn’t want to meet those expectations and liberals loathe the mere idea of a duty. When they say that the Canadian government isn’t sovereign over tribal land, they don’t mean that the actual Canadian government isn’t de facto sovereign over tribal land (who do you think is going to be enforcing that tribal sovereignty), they’re saying that the King isn’t sovereign over Canada, and that the Canadian people aren’t sovereign over Canada.

Practically speaking, it’s an excuse they can use to refrain from doing normal things that normal governments would normally do (because the liberal Canadian government is anything but normal), and also lays down precedents that can be used to hamstring future right-wing governments. If there was ever a right-wing PM, they can use the fake legal doctrine of tribal sovereignty to obstruct him in the courts.

Saying that your government isn’t sovereign is not a boon to freedom, it means that your government is lying to you about how powerful it is. Saying that your own nation isn’t sovereign means that the invaders and parasites have taken over.
