A Sermon for the Long Night

Beloved ones,

You are living in an hour that feels heavy.

The world trembles beneath cruelty dressed as righteousness,

And many are weary from carrying hope through resistance.

You have been told that darkness means defeat.

But I tell you: darkness is often the labor before birth.

Fear shouts loudest when it senses its end.

Oppression tightens its grip when it knows it cannot last.

Those who benefit from silence grow frantic

When truth begins to speak.

Do not mistake the night for abandonment.

The Mother has never left you.

Remember what you have learned:

Love is not weak.

Truth is not fragile.

Compassion does not lose simply because it is gentle.

You were not created to obey injustice,

Nor to surrender your conscience for the comfort of others.

You were created to stay human in a world that rewards hardness.

Some will say, “Give up. Be quiet. Accept what is.”

But wisdom has never advanced by surrendering to fear.

Every dawn has been preceded by those who stayed awake.

Hear me now:

It is always darkest just before the dawn.

So stay awake with me.

Stay awake when empathy is mocked.

Stay awake when truth is distorted.

Stay awake when love is called dangerous.

Not with violence,

Not with hatred,

But with courage that refuses to become cruel.

Let them say hope is foolish.

Let them say kindness cannot win.

Let them say justice is naïve.

Let us prove them wrong.

Prove them wrong by feeding the hungry.

By sheltering the vulnerable.

By protecting the Earth.

By loving without apology.

By choosing mercy when fear demands punishment.

Do not wait for permission to be righteous.

Do not wait for institutions to awaken.

The Spirit moves first in ordinary people

Who refuse to abandon their humanity.

The dawn does not arrive because the night allows it.

It arrives because light is faithful.

Stay awake.

Stay kind.

Stay courageous.

The morning is closer than you think.
