Just had my 341 meeting today (CH13)…
No creditors showed up. Aside from basic questions everyone else got asked they asked about my change in income around January/February. Surprised they didn’t ask about the truck inside the plan (currently owe over $100k) - however, this is my only form of transportation, my job is very dependent on reliable transportation, can’t really take out a auto loan to downsize due to the significant amount of negative equity, CH13 reporting, no cash on hand to buy outright a reliable vehicle that’ll get me through 5+ years without issues and I sometimes camp out of my vehicle too. Maybe my attorney filled the trustee in a bit before the meeting? Obviously, there’s still the possibility of objections but won’t know for sure until I hear back from the attorney. However, he didn’t seem concerned.
I will say, having actually gone through this part of the process (I was only 3rd one called ) but, seeing what this one couple had (surely it had to be a 36 month plan given the $6k/mo payment), but, 4 vehicles, two surrendered (of course one of them was a truck) and the wife, not surprisingly, keeps the expensive 2027 SUV, which is easily a $50k loan at least.
Why? I don’t understand why people do this to themselves. I don’t understand how lenders think this is sustainable. I read someone, not sure if it was on here, someone had 20 credit cards! I’m like, didn’t that lender of the 20th card not question the 19 others when reviewing credit report? Jesus! Things have to change, cause that’s insane.
