Spouse has Misophonia
Hello all.
For a person with Misophonia l, I’m probably their worst nightmare.
I sway, talk loud and expressively, and I’m a salesman by trade.
I’m struggling because I feel like I spend a lot of time a lone At home, to safeguard my wife from triggers.
The distance helps her be calm, and It helps me to not get upset with her getting triggered, and feeling like she’s trying to manipulate and control me. I understand she’s having a fight or flight response which leads the misophonia sufferer to desperately do what they can to control their environment.
Anyways, we find peace in being a part, and I’m sad that this is my reality. Ultimately I want her to be at peace, no matter what that would look like.
I feel like there are 3 people in our marriage; me, her, and her misophonia.
Do you have advice for a husband who is the opposite of his misophonia spouse? How can we both not suffer?
TLDR, my with goes into a rage by normal little sounds and motions. My marriage is based around walking on egg shells for a legitimate medical condition that is making me distance myself.
