I’m frustrated.
I’m stuck in this weird phase in art where I can’t seem to get over the fear of failing.
I’m getting back into art again, mostly drawing and creative writing. Writing is something I’ve barely done, while drawing is something I did for a while as a teenager, then started back up as an adult. And admittedly, I’m not that good at either. Sometimes something I draw is amazing, other times it’s so bad it hurts.
I’m a perfectionist and so I struggle to accept the imperfections that come with art as a whole, and it frustrates me because you think to yourself “why am I not better” or “this sucks” and so I find it difficult to get past the “it’s okay to make mistakes” phase.
What should I do? Or rather how can I get past this without feeling bad about myself or my work, and how can I accept the mistakes for what they are so I can allow myself to move on and improve?
