Waiting all day during the Playoff Finals for a signature required package and it not showing up has to be criminal / UPS should update tracking times based on route positioning
So I’ve been waiting all day at my store for a part that requires a signature and this is a new form of torture 🫩 The current system is a twelve hour window and a notification that it’s going to be delivered that day and I think it’s way beyond time to modernize it; why can’t it be updated to reflect a package’s position in the queue during the route and relay that information in a three hour window to account for delays and such. I understand it’s much easier to schedule for pick up or sign beforehand, but I can’t link this package to me because the site doesn’t recognize the email address of the package and I didn’t know it was an option until 5pm today. Because of that, I haven’t been able to do much aside because I can’t leave to grab food, run an errand, go in the back, etc because we all know the stories of “Delivery Attempted” purgatory and this replacement part is too valuable for me to miss.
So anyways, back to my original question: Why can’t the current system go off a live-tracking model that relays the package’s location in the route to the customer? Having a 12 hour delivery windows demands that you’re ready to accept a package for twelve hours, which let’s be honest, everybody needs to run to the grocery store, shower, etc. What’s worse is that if a driver hasn’t hit their 14 hour cap, the 12 hour window could turn into 13, 14, even 15 hours of waiting if you are the later stops on a route. Just super frustrating and I am wondering why it can’t be changed, it seems really easy since all the technology already exists within UPS
