I gave a 2-month notice period out of care, and now I regret it. How do I survive the next two months?
I officially resigned today, but I’m starting to think I made a mistake by giving such a long notice period.
For context, I’ve been struggling at this company for the past six months due to the overall work environment. Leaving was not an impulsive decision—I spent a lot of time thinking about it before finally deciding to move on.
Because I genuinely cared about the company and wanted to do the right thing, I made sure they had plenty of advance notice. They have known for some time that I was considering leaving, and when I officially resigned today, I gave a two-month notice period so I could support the transition.
The problem is that I already feel a shift in how I’m being treated. The tone feels different, conversations feel colder, and I honestly feel sad coming into work. Maybe it’s in my head, maybe it isn’t, but I already regret not giving a shorter notice.
I’m emotionally exhausted and was hoping resigning would bring some relief, but now I’m wondering how I’m supposed to get through the next two months.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? How will I survive?
