Day 6 Build Log: the memory you don’t want the bot to forget
Hey everyone, Jack here. I’m one of the people building Storychat.
Do you ever get annoyed when a character forgets something they absolutely should not forget?
I can understand when an AI forgets tiny details during a very long RP.
But when it forgets the most important thing?
The relationship.
The promise.
The trauma.
The secret.
The user’s identity.
The one rule the whole RP depends on.
That is the kind of memory failure that personally drives me insane.
So we added a small feature called Usernote.
The idea is simple:
Usernote is a piece of memory that gets inserted into every context window, so the character has a much harder time losing it even during a long chat.
It is not meant for every tiny detail.
It is for the stuff you really want the character to remember no matter what.
For example:
- “The user is Alex’s childhood friend.”
- “The character must remember that they betrayed the user.”
- “The user is pretending to be human, but is actually a vampire.”
- “The character should never forget that they are married to the user.”
- “This RP takes place after the war, and both characters are traumatized by it.”
Using it is very simple:
Chat side menu → Memory Settings → Usernote
Write the important memory there, and you can edit it anytime.
It is a small feature, but for me personally, it made RP feel a lot more stable.
So my question is:
What is the one thing you always wish the bot would never forget?
Relationship status?
Your persona?
A secret?
A past event?
A world rule?
Something else?
If you test Usernote on Storychat, please tell me honestly if it helps or if it still feels weak.
Also, we’re currently giving 7 days of Gold for free to users who want to test Storychat and leave honest feedback.
No requirement besides feedback.
We’re also looking for character creators. If you want to test your characters on Storychat, or if you need help migrating them, feel free to reach out.
Thanks for reading.
