Those of you have been diagnosed officially, has the diagnosis in and of itself been beneficial to you?
I think I'm about to get on a very long wait list to get assessed (was recently diagnosed with ADHD, now medicated - lifes been great since) for Autism.
For me I feel like the value is in simply having a word or a term or a structure in my own mind that solidifies how I process information, and more specifically, I feel like if I have a diagnosis I should use that, and be upfront about it with job applications. Like as a way to say "these are the working conditions I operate best within" and am seeking an employment or career opportunity where these traits can be mutually beneficial to both parties.
I feel like being upfront about that would solve a lot of the common problems with employment that I have experienced in my life, and finding the right work where I fit in, in my natural state would probably give me a huge quality of life boost.
But this is just me theorizing, I'm curious about your experiences. Please share? Has your diagnosis been beneficial to you? And what in what ways?
