Need help reworking my Typhus model!

My brothers! I need some assistance in reworking my Typhus model. A buddy gave it to me a while ago already built and primed. I wanna know if I could snip off the smoke/flies to paint him and those separately and then glue em back. Or if there’s another way to get him off the base and the flies without breaking him too much. Thanks for any help in advance!
