Mid elo statemate issues

Hi, just to preface broken arrow is my first RTS and I play around 1400 elo atm but I'm only level 13.

I've been having an issue in my recent matches where especially against higher elo players (1800+) I find that the game just becomes a slog fest where people never push and just trade artillery fire or sead and air to air kills.

I tend to hold at least one point and go with a positive k/d so I'm a net contributor to the team. Whilst I have been winning more than I haven't and go positive it doesn't feel very enjoyable. As a mainly russian player I get heavily punished for trying to push out even with layered and structured advances as essentially two Maginot lines get created in between two points but I feel like I suffer without units like the sentinel or stealth jets.

Any advice or is this just the way the game goes?
