Apple website leads with: “Apple Watch For Your Kids, formerly known as Family Setup, lets family members who don't have their own iPhone enjoy the features and benefits of an Apple Watch.”

Did you catch that last part: “… enjoy the features and benefits of an Apple Watch!”

I bought my son an Apple Watch 11, I set it up for him, he doesn’t have an iPhone. I want him to be able to “enjoy the features and benefits of an Apple Watch”. However because of his age a lot of the benefits and features are disabled. And if I be were to change his age to the point t they were enabled I would lose remote screen-time control (his iPad).

He has special needs, and I want him to be able to utilize it to help him learn self advocacy and independence. Ie he needs to take certain medicines, why does Apple disable the medications on a child, it would be great if that were available, and I could setup his medications and he could get alerts and then I could remotely monitor that he is taking it. Seems so simple. And he wants to monitor his sleep, but nope, kids account can’t monitor his sleep?!? Then if I did change his iCloud account to an adult, we lose the remote screen-time controls, Apple Cash Family, and School Time focus.

Has anyone else run into these sorta issues. Any recommendations?
