Hi everyone! I recently picked up a Venus flytrap from Home Depot and was hoping to get some advice on caring for it, especially since I live in the Western Nevada area (which is NOT humid and very dry)
I've owned a Venus flytrap before, but unfortunately I didn't know as much about their care requirements back then. This time I'm trying to do things properly. Right now it's still in the pot it came in, and I have it sitting in a tray outdoors with distilled water so that the soil stays consistently moist.
One thing I'm unsure about is repotting, I've seen mixed opinions on how soon a newly purchased Venus flytrap should be repotted. I know big-box stores don't always keep them in ideal conditions, so I started looking into better soil and ordered this one on amazon.
The plant also appears to have some roots sticking out from the bottom, which makes me wonder if it would benefit from being moved into a slightly larger container.
I'm still researching the best way to repot it without causing unnecessary stress, since I've read that Venus flytraps can be sensitive to root disturbance.
For those of you with experience growing Venus flytraps, does it sound like I should repot it now, or give it some time to acclimate first? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!✨🪴
