I (25F) and my boyfriend (26M) are both working professionals. We’ve been in a relationship for about 6 months. We decided to take a cool off about a month ago. It wasn’t because of cheating or a major fight. It was more of a mutual decision because we both realized we had become too emotionally dependent on each other while also trying to manage our careers and personal lives. We agreed that the space was supposed to help us focus on ourselves and grow individually.  
But now that it has been a month I’ve been struggling with a lot of overthinking and uncertainty.

On one hand, I understand that space can be healthy. I’ve been trying to focus on work and rebuilding my own routine outside of the relationship. I also recognize that I became too emotionally attached and lost some sense of independence.But I really can’t stop worrying that this “cool off” might not just be about growth. I keep overthinking whether this is actually a slow way of detaching from each other. Sometimes I fear that this distance is making it easier for him (or both of us) to get used to the idea of eventually breaking up even if that was never directly said.

There was no clear statement about ending things and the agreement was really just to take space. But the uncertainty is affecting me more than I expected.  
I’m now stuck between trusting the process and dealing with constant anxiety about what this distance really means.

For people who have experienced a similar situation, how did you deal with the uncertainty during a cool off period, and how did you know whether it was helping the relationship or slowly leading to its end?
