What should training be like?
Currently I’m heading into workouts for summer with the high school soccer team. Leading up to the workouts and currently, I train about 5 hours per day. I do ONE hour of really intense conditioning, Monday through Thursday, and 4 hours of either just pure foam rolling plus stretching or light wall passing. Like I said, I’m slowing it down right now so I do not get injured, so resting A LOT. But before this schedule, I was doing something similar, just less intense and more focusing on MANY reps plus A LOT of lifting weights. Friday through Sunday are recovery days, so no intense workouts at all but I practice for 8 hours, I have done 10 hours several times before. These days are just mainly easy, like no sweat easy, but focusing on many light reps on whatever I be doing. Please tell me if this training is helping or not. I do see improvement but any coach or trainer out there might sense a problem in this? The guy I train tells me not to do ANY sort of practice with the ball or body, he just wants me to stretch and foam roll, he is okay with me doing extra after our training, but even then it has to be light, he tells me it’s all about energy conservation to get peak performance every training session. He is right or wrong?
Been doing this for less or about 2 months, I forgot to record.
