Where to start

I (21m) have a burning passion to become a carpenter, I've always had a passion for these kinda things since I was younger, but I have no clue where to start, I've searched up different trade schools and programs but they've never stood out for me. I am located in the southern part of New Jersey and wanna know if there are any recommended steps I should take or schools I should look to enroll in.
