New doctor questioning my diagnosis because antidepressants didn’t work for me

Rant/Vent

Today I saw a new provider that my primary care doctor referred me to. So far, my primary doctor is the only person who has listened to me. She only referred me because she believed they can better manage my adhd due to my side effects with a stimulant.

Before my primary care doctor, I was diagnosed by a psychiatrist that literally only wanted to prescribe me a nonstimulant medication plus 3 other antidepressants. She would always look at me weird if I mentioned trying out concerta and changed convo. So I moved to my primary care.

Fast forward I saw the new doctor who was meant to manage my adhd care, I told her that I tried Vyvanse and that I didn’t like it. I told her I tried Strattera (the best med I tried so far, my depression and anxiety got much better) but it was messing with my sleep heavily and it wasn’t improving much with focus bc I was on a lower dose. I told her everytime I tried an antidepressant it sucked me of my life and made me feel like a zombie. I told her multiple times my depression and anxiety symptoms seem high because of my untreated adhd.

Instead, she started questioning me about bipolar disorder. Then, she said that she’s gonna manage my anxiety and depression first which I told her no I do not want to do that because my old psychiatrist tried to do that and it made me more depressed. She raved about how Wellbutrin was amazing. Guess what? Wellbutrin was the one that increased my anxiety and put me in a psychosis.

This is the cherry on top. Despite all of that being said, she decided to tell me that she may bring in a psychiatrist to evaluate me and prescribe me other antidepressants. I told her No I will not be doing that. I tried to keep my cool but it was so hard. I’m not even really seeking another stimulant right now I just wanted to try qelbree since it’s similar to Strattera. Why is this so frustrating? I’m going to ask my primary care doctor if I can return bc I’m tired of this shit.

She kept asking me about my childhood specifically about “if I had good grades or if a teacher told my parents I needed to get checked”. She started questioning about how I would focus before I was diagnosed with adhd. It felt like an interrogation. She was only nice at the end when we weren’t talking about adhd management. I don’t know why. My psychiatrist was like that too. Is it the stimulants? I didn’t even like the stimulant I tried. Do they think I’m drug seeking? I’m frustrated because now I have to wait again till I see my primary care:/
