Need help finding a book I read from a sample. Possibly thriller/mystery.

I always write down the books I’ve read, sorted by months. I remember it was between now and April however i’ve went through almost every book and haven’t found it. I’ve looked up the same authors i’ve read, i’ve went on google and typed in what I remember and genuinely cannot find anything that I’m starting to question if I made up the book.

From what I remember it’s in the perspective of a girl, she is at work and her best-friend (also a girl) comes in and talks to her about a trip they are going to go on. They also have another best-friend (which is a guy) in which they planned the trip with. Now this is where the details kind of blur together and I don’t know if maybe i’m thinking of two separate books together. I remember she has a flashback about when she was younger. Her older sister told her what happened to their mom and that she was in a car wreck and died(mom possibly on drugs). The girl also collects some of her mom’s belongings (mostly photos I believe ) out of the trash can after the father throws them away.

That’s all I remember but anything would be helpful!
