TW: second MMC
Mods please delete if this isn’t the right sub for this post.
In the past few months I’ve really leaned heavily on this sub and the amazing generosity of you all sharing your experiences on your fertility journeys.
My partner is a woman and we started TTC via donor sperm last year via IVF (I was 38 at the time). Unfortunately we only got one embryo and we transferred it, untested. We are in NZ and everything here is completely out of pocket so PGTA testing costs extra. Anyway that resulted in a pregnancy but it was fraught with slow rising HCG. We did end up seeing a heartbeat and though we were in the clear until we found out at the 12/13 week scan it was a MMC and has stopped growing around 9 weeks.
I had a d&c and we started TTC again via IUI because we can’t afford ivf. After 3 IUIs I got pregnant again - amazing HCG numbers, progesterone so good they didn’t put me on any extra, heart beat at 7 weeks, morning sickness etc. But this week at a 10 week scan we found out that it was another MMC, around 8w4days.
I’m at a loss now..was this just bad luck because of my age? My thyroid levels are good, tubes checked and open, good bmi. I can obviously get pregnant but I’m scared to try again. I would really appreciate anyone sharing their experience with having a successful full term birth after consecutive losses. I’m wondering if I should give up this dream.
