The taste of unflavored whey protein concentrate

For context: I hate artificial sweeteners (the taste in particular) and pretty much any additives such as seed oils.

With that in mind, I was looking for a quality whey product with minimum ingredients but still cheap.

I found nutricost brand unflavored whey concentrate, which fits both criteria quite nicely. But what's weird is when I tried it with just milk, it heavily reminded me of the taste of non-dairy coffee creamer. Didn't taste bad or like chemicals/medicine but that was a bit of a shocker, although I wonder how much it was affected by my bias thinking it should taste 'clean and smooth'.

Also interesting how different people using different brands have such a stark variety of experiences. Makes me wonder about supplement companies scamming and adding stuff like flour. A Google search did say that this brand passed independent studies.
