Gate or Job

Hey guys, I'll keep everything as short as I can. When I was in the drop year, my father told me that I could take any branch if I got into IIT, but unfortunately I could not make it. My family got upset seeing the result and forced me to pursue Mechanical Engineering in B.Tech., they now want me to give and get a good rank in GATE Mechanical, but the issue is, Mechanical is not my cup of tea. I was always a little engineer learning how things worked in a computer, software and electronics devices. I had first hands on programming in 9th standard, later on building Jarvis which could do a lot of stuff (back then there was no Al to seek help for). And today I'm working as an ML Intern at a company, but the problem is my parents don't know anything about my programming side. I'm in 5th semester right now, I have thought about preparing for GATE Mathematics, GATE Data Science and GATE statistics, specifically these exams because I love mathematics very much. And i have a good grip on this subject. I have two options, excel into my Al ML side and get a job, or prepare hard for the GATE and pursue M.Tech. from IIT/IISc and I think I really want to pursue M.Tech, study in a Tier-1 college. I need suggestions from people who have faced such a situation or are there at positions which I want to get into. If I didn't achieve good in GATE 2027 (of areas of my interest) idk how I would face my father, he has bought an unacademy subscription for ME.
