server-sided objectives are terrible

Rant

What is the point of doing objectives? Well obviously to reduce the timer, but the other reason you do objectives is to get queue points to play monster.

Thing is, in the beginning of Recode's development, the QP had a cap of 12.

Now in the ye' olden days of PC2, this cap only applied if you left a server. Precode had a vastly different point system then recode does. But if you locked in, you'd generally get to play monster every few rounds, though usually longer depending on the server.

The point is, you could play monster, even if it took a bit. So in that case, in recode, you only get to play monster every hour if your entire team does good. The issue isn't you, it's server-sided objectives.

The main issue with them is in their name, they're server sided. Yeah, you may be contributing to an objective set overall, but that also means YOUR queue point gain is highly dependent on your team. If you can do objectives faster than everyone else, congrats! You've gotten a gook chunk of QP. However, if your team does objectives faster than you, well too bad, because now you can't gain any QP because you were just a wee bit too slow.

Also promotes people stealing from you. Prime example being a twitter clip I saw of someone who did 2 trash tasks, coming in and stealing a trash back from someone who only did 1. It doesn't matter how you frame it, the fact that you can do that is complete bullshit.

But anyways, the point is your QP gain is highly dependent on your teammates. I don't think I need to really explain why this is a massive problem, but if I do, I'll boil it down.

Need QP to play monster > Plays to get QP to play monster > Team does tasks faster than me > I can't get QP to play monster

The only two solutions I can come to for this are either:

1 - A queue point cap (would be a band-aid fix but it would definitely help)

2 - Client-sided objectives.

I'd much rather we have client-sided objectives so everyone has an equal playing field when it comes to QP gain (as equal as it'll get atleast.) Would obviously require possible complete overhauls, but it's a healthier system for the game overall.
