Road trip advice: Currently in Munnar, heading to Kochi (June 6) & Varkala (June 7). Rain check + stay/pub recs?

Hey everyone,

I am on a self-drive road trip from Hyderabad to Tamil Nadu and Kerala. I am currently in Munnar and planning to drive to Varkala via Kochi.

The weather forecast says there is too much rain. It said the same for Munnar, but here it is just a very light shower that stops in between. I wanted to get the latest update from people on the ground. Is it the right time to visit Varkala and the backwaters right now? I am open to staying for longer if needed.

My plan is to reach Kochi on June 6th to explore the city, and then travel to Varkala on June 7th.
I would love some recommendations for:

1. Good stay options in both Kochi and Varkala (budget is decent).
2. Any good pubs, clubs, or live music spots.
