Was I expecting too much?
I (26F) met a guy (30M) through the AM process and we had been talking for a month. Everything looked great, our negotiables and non- negotiables were almost matching.
We decided to date each other exclusively for 2-3 months before deciding whether we were a good match for each other. We met a couple of times and also spoke daily.
However, i did have issues regarding him being unavailable for hours together, so much so that I would have no idea about where he was, what he was doing etc. Within the first few days itself i made it very clear to him that I value communication and while I completely understand his busy schedule and also that not everyone is a prompt texter like me, the only thing I expect is one simple message like “I have a long day ahead of me and I’ll speak to you in the evening”. He took that conversation well and things did improve for a few days. But again in a couple of days the same issues cropped up where I reiterated myself and also told him this will be a dealbreaker for me the next time.
Fast forward to a couple of days later, where I fell ill with a high fever and I’d told him about the same earlier that day. Inspite of knowing I’m keeping unwell, he did not reach out to me the whole day, not a single text or call asking about how I’m doing. This really upset me and I decided to call it off, all he said that he was sorry and had a busy day at work thus couldn’t shell out even 30 seconds to check up on me.
I think i had a very fair and very very basic expectation that he would atleast show concern, was I expecting too much??
We later got on a call where he said it was his mistake and he should’ve checked up on me, but at the same time he isn’t able to match my expectations and that maybe I should see some other people as well as I deserve someone much better.
