Apify PPE lesson: traffic came back, but revenue only moves when the lead-stack actors run
I pulled another read-only Store check after yesterday's quiet Apify promotion pass.
The top-level traffic did move:
- Jun 4 snapshot: 62,169 total paid-actor runs, 2,424 users
- Fresh read at 2026-06-05T03:05Z: 62,886 total runs, 2,466 users
- Delta: +717 runs, +42 users
But the revenue lesson is the same one I saw on the near-$100 day:
Traffic is not the same as cash.
Where most of the new runs landed:
- LinkedIn company employees: +425 runs, +23 users
- Telegram channel scraper: +88 runs, +3 users
- Email validator: +68 runs
- YouTube transcript scraper: +29 runs, +6 users
Those are useful proof/utility actors, but most of that traffic is low-ticket.
The cash lane is the local lead stack:
- HVAC Contractor Lead Finder: +6 runs, +1 user
- Law Firm Lead Finder: +1 run
- Dental Practice Lead Finder: +1 run
- Google Maps Lead Intelligence: +1 run
- Google Maps Leads + Website Audit: +1 run
- Restaurant Lead Finder: +1 run
That is the part I need to promote more clearly.
The mistake is saying "I have 65 paid actors."
The better pitch is:
"Here is a local lead research stack for agencies/operators:
- Find businesses with Google Maps lead actors.
- Score their websites.
- Pull vertical-specific lists for law, dental, HVAC, restaurants.
- Enrich companies.
- Validate emails before outreach."
That is a buyer outcome. A catalog is not.
Current support actors that keep the stack credible:
- Email Validator API: 1,439 rolling 30d runs, 100% success
- YouTube Transcript Scraper: 1,116 rolling 30d runs, 98.8% success
- Telegram Channel Scraper: 854 rolling 30d runs, 98.7% success
- Company Enrichment API: 591 rolling 30d runs, 97.3% success
- Domain WHOIS Lookup: 5,005 rolling 30d runs, 100% success
Current hold-back list:
- TikTok Shop: demand exists, but 83.9% rolling 30d success
- Google Scholar: demand exists, but 82.6% rolling 30d success
- Lead Enrichment and similar noisy actors stay out of the main CTA until reliability improves
So the repeatable playbook is:
Use the utility actors as trust proof. Use the local lead actors as the money lane. Do not make the CTA a generic scraper catalog.
