Experience with anesthetic

I had my third Mirena of life inserted today, I am 34. All of my mirenas have lasted the expected amount of time. The first two times were before there was any talk of using local anesthetic so it was done “raw”. I remember the second time better because it was more recently. I took the day off work and I remember thinking I don’t think I needed the time off cause I felt okay after.

This time, I got 3 needles of anesthetic in my cervix (unfortunately that is all the details I know about the anesthesia). And I have to say firstly, I don’t think it helped with the pain during the procedure and secondly, i actually think it made recovery worse because it was more “involved” than my two previous times. I have been in quite a bit of pain today, cramping and weak in the legs, and urgently needing to use the bathroom 💩. I do not think this happened before!!

I’m curious if I’m crazy, or misremembering something or if anyone else has had the experience of it being better with no anesthesia?? Thank you!!
