Why does having all the basics covered still make you feel poor?

This is probably the wrong subreddit to post this in, but as a lower middle class family i am curious how can you have a roof over your head, power, water, good internet, many streaming services, 2 or 3 televisions in the house, food, and maybe a small holiday once a year and still I feel poor?
