Tax issue and pressure

Essentially my school baited and switched, told me I would be enrolled in the four insurances an then put into the contract that I was as an independent contractor and didn’t enrol me into the four insurances. When I got paid for the first time last month, I asked them why no deductions and they said it was ok and legal . Now they say the government has got into them and they are saying that in order to enrol me into the four insurances that they want me to either take a 200k pay cut or forgo my severance to cover the cost of taxes . Or resign

It’s an okay Hagwon job besides this issue. Not sure what to do? I assume I know owe two months of back taxes.
