I want to get my floors done before I move in but the timetable will likely not work out. What should I do?
I just closed on an old home last week. And my lease ends on the 25th this month. I thought I'd have things taken care of pretty quickly but, I hadn't anticipated that people would be booked pretty far out! I know it should've been common sense but being new to ownership and everything, I hadn't taken that into consideration.
But even with that in mind, I guess I couldn't have done much about it unless I planned to stay in my apartment for an extra month, which would've been a bit too expensive / not worth it. The rent $ alone could pay for a repair of something.
As of now, I COULD get my floors sanded and finished but it's cutting the moving process really close. The people that I got estimates from could only do it starting the week before I move in. They said that it'll take a whole week to finish, a few days for sanding, and a few days to let the finish dry(?). So it definitely can work, but essentially there's no room for messing things up or having unpredictable things happening to the schedule.
In the event that I can't get enough time to do any of this, what would you guys recommend me do? The floor isn't really exactly in need of immediate intervention. It's definitely pretty worn out but it's not like it's about to break apart or anything. I have pictures here: https://www.reddit.com/r/centuryhomes/comments/1tqeoht/what_should_i_do_to_take_care_of_these_floors/
Once we move in and start moving in furniture, it's gonna be a huge hassle to do anything to the floors right? I guess I just have so much I don't know how things work out, so I'm at a lost. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks so much guys!
