Rivalries dying? What's your earliest memories?
I just watched the Celtics/Lakers 30 for 30 again and it makes me miss the old NBA so much. Don't get me wrong, we've had some great Finals the last few seasons like Okc/Indiana, Milwaukee/Phoenix and the current one might be good as well.
But I really really miss rivalries. To me, I don't consider Cavs/Warriors a rivalry because Warriors beat them 3/4 times, probably would have been all 4 if Draymond had not gotten suspended in 2016 game 6. Nonetheless, rivalries are so dead now I hate it. Not to sound like a hater but once all the old heads retired like KG, Dirk, Duncan, Kobe, Pierce etc it felt like that was the last of true rivalries or teams really really hating each other. I used to love it when Dwade and Dirk didn't like each other and I'm a Celtics fan, that shit don't matter to me.
My earliest memory was when they chanted Kobe at the garden when we were trash or when Pierce came in to LA dropped like 50 and Shaq gave him the nickname "The Truth". NBA Finals memories I remember Kobe jumping on the scorers table in game 7 2010 and I remember in 08 KG got this crazy and 1 over Gasol, Leon Powe game 2 and a crazy game 4 comeback.
In a way I feel like Wemby will save the NBA. Him crying after advancing to the finals and disliking players or teams, shows me he really cares and doesn't wanna be friends. Watching that documentary again and looking at the NBA today makes me miss rivalries. I really want a Boston/LA NBA Finals so bad in the Jays era. I want Luka to get some help and us to improve, just so we could face each other. Luka playing Boston again?! Even after leaving Dallas would be absolutely storybook.
Please basketball gods make it happen!!!
