Passport related query

TCS initially accepts the payment acknowledgement slip, but how often do they ask for our actual passport after we join? In my case I am facing issues with my parent's name in my birth certificate, so that might delay the process in my case, so I just wanted to know how often they ask after we join, kindly someone share your experience or if you have some idea
