Core and glute activation in badminton
I've taken training when I was young so I've learned the fundamentals in footwork and technique. But after a recent knee injury, I'd like to review how I could improve my footwork and how to use my body.
In particular, I believe partly why I injured my knee was because of my lack of core and glute muscle activation. If I'm not mistaken, a lack of using those areas will put more pressure and force on the knees.
Also, I believe I am quad-dominant and that also affects the knees. When I do any quad stretches I can feel the kneecap area being pulled at and affected. I am already doing clamshells regularly to strengthen the glutes, but it may also be an activation issue as I sit for many many hours a day and for long stretches.
Appreciate any tips and advice!
