BAM Press Release "Firing" Josh Johnson Is Not a "Win"

Discussion

I'm seeing a lot of hype around "Bryan getting his Legos back" and "BAM firing Josh". I suppose this helps cut through the segment of anti-bam sentiment from casuals who aren't up to date on all the details, which I suppose is a win for BAM, but nothing in this blog post is new?

  • They don't say they fired Josh, nor do they place any blame or liability on him, which is 100% strategic. In fact, they place the blame on social media. This is not a move to take accountability.
  • Removing Josh/Brandon doesn't resolve anything. They were acting on behalf of corporate and Josh is clearly just a useful idiot. No one with a grand scheme defers to their boss/parrotts their boss as much as he was in the body cam footage. It's a false/null sacrifice.
  • None of the claims or arguments they make in the post are new. They've always offered, what Ben referred to as, (paraphrasing) $2-$5k of Lego Star Wars sets that are likely just whatever random Lego Star Wars sets they have sitting around the store, not necessarily rare, not necessarily Bryan's.
  • This offer to Bryan comes with strings attached, not out of good faith. And as others have mentioned, said strings are likely trap doors for other parties of the suit
  • Claims of sketchiness from prior owners, true or not, are moot points b/c the security cam footage shows Brandon/corporate telling prior owners that they are assuming responsibility for inventorying the collection and paying out Bryan for outstanding balances. Whether prior owners were up to sketchy stuff or not, they're on camera making an effort to 1. Inform corporate of the current status of the consignment situation 2. Take action on making further consignment payments. While corporate is on camera verbally saying this is their responsibility now (whether they were appropriately equipped to take on said responsibility is TBD).
  • The store has already been closed since the small claims suit, making it official is not new breaking news.
  • None of this addresses the elephant in the room, being Ammon clearly pulling the strings on everything, and making some very serious, unfounded allegations to manipulate poorly trained PD into executing his agenda.

TLDR: I'm a bit fatigued seeing so many people that aren't up to speed on the case (by no fault of their own) celebrating this as a win.
