Why do I need to disclose…?
I was diagnosed with GHSV-1 earlier this week (PCR result). The doctor prescribed acyclovir on Saturday the same day I got swabbed and within two days my symptoms died down. I’m still waiting for the blister to go away but my research shows that GHSV-1 outbreaks are uncommon and after the first year become almost nonexistent and asymptomatic shedding goes down to the low single digits. If I use protection, take an antiviral, and don’t have sex during an outbreak why would I need to disclose? If 50-80% of people have HSV-1 and asymptomatic shedding only occurs 10-15% of days doesn’t that mean the chance of me giving it to someone is negligible? What are the legal implications of this? Obviously if I was going to enter into a relationship with someone I would disclose but why do I need to ruin my sex life for something that is common? Also I wasn’t given that grace…
