Doubt regarding admission process

After the merit list is published and a student is allotted a seat in a college they want to take admission in , what will be the process

When will the official admissions start ? And will the fee payment for the admission take place online or offline ?

Like what happens in some colleges is the merit list is published , if you are allotted a seat in a college you prefer you pay the fee online and later some date is allotted where you go in and show your document and fill up the admission form .

So I am a little confused as to what will be the process .
