Legally Blind: Applied for SSDI 8 months ago…
Hi friends. I’m 53/m in WI legally blind with an untreatable and progressive inherited retina disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa.
I worked a long career but eventually applied for SSDI in October, 2025 as my vision regressed into just tunnel vision. I was sent by my DDB for a Vision CE May, 2026.
Now about a month later I’m still on Step 3 with a Federal Quality Review FQR that started today. Hoping to hear something soon.
Just wanted to document my SSDI journey here for others with visual impairments.
Thanks and I’m rooting for all of us to be approved. 🙏
