*Number one in America, 58th season, ratings climbing. Bari Weiss took it apart anyway. Dan Rather says it has nothing to do with the “new media landscape.”*

# What Nobody Tells You

Paramount paid $16 million to settle Donald Trump’s “60 Minutes” lawsuit in July 2025. Bari Weiss took over CBS News that October. Within weeks she killed a finished segment on Trump’s El Salvador deportations, hours before air. The senior staff vanished. Tuesday, Scott Pelley, after 37 years.

Pelley called it murder. Rather called it premeditated. She handed America’s most-watched news program to Nick Bilton, a tech journalist. The show was number one in its 58th season, viewership up 9 percent. Nothing that healthy gets dismantled by accident.

# Why It Actually Matters

60 Minutes is where the biggest news audience in America learns what the powerful did to them. Whoever owns that hour decides which stories die quietly: the cover-up, the recall, the layoff. Paramount paid Trump to bury a lawsuit. The next story to vanish is the one about you. A watchdog that clears its reporting with the people it watches is a press release with a stopwatch.

# What To Do About It

Watch what 60 Minutes stops covering. Track the stories it suddenly can’t find. The silence is the product now.

*CRIX22 calls this Managed Narrative: someone quietly deciding which version of reality the public is allowed to question. It fits because the cheapest way to bury a story is to own the people paid to tell it, and Paramount just ran the play on the most famous newsroom in America. Rather calls the result a “Trump-approved” 60 Minutes.*
