what type of laptop do you recommend for chemE?

Im a rising freshman at SBU planning to major in Chemical and Molecular Engineering. I am considering to buy a MacBook but idk if the software program will restrict any program that I need to complete my assignments. Which laptop are you currently using? Which one do you recommend?
