Guitar players - how do you keep your index finger and thumb nails from chipping due to strumming?
So here’s my deal. I’m a guitar player and I’m looking for some ways to make sure that my press ons stay reusable (I’m super poor) and stay on. I currently I’m using the BTartbox sticky tabs. When I press down on the strings with my left hand I can feel the wiggle of the sticky tab. It drives me nuts.
I just bought some curve life glue, and I have some olive and June peel off basecoat. So I’m going to experiment with using glue for the first time, hopefully using basecoat as protection to my regular nail.
That said, if I can get the nails to feel more secure, I prefer to strum with my index finger and my thumb rather than use a pick. For most sets, they hang in there pretty well as long as I have a topcoat on. I’m a music therapist and may be starting to work again after being sick for several years. So my fingernails are gonna get more use than what they’re used to. For those who play guitar or any other instrument/job that uses nails in that regard, what’s your upkeep and how do you do it? I have to reuse nail sets because I’m too poor.
