One hundred and six days
It has been one hundred and six days since I lost you.
Still, every morning,
before the world fully wakes,
my thoughts find their way back to you.
I wish you'd come back and Ile to me again.
Strange thing to say, isn't it?
But I built a home inside those lies.
A place for us.
A place where I felt I belonged.
Now I sit there alone, most days,
running my hands across empty rooms, hoping the dust still remembers your name.
I tell myself it brings me closer to you.
I don't think it does.
Still, I stay.
For what it's worth,
I didn't self-destruct this time.
Not yet, anyway.
I'd like to believe
you would be proud of that.
Once, I told you the sun rose and set with you.
The truth is, it still does.
The difference now
is that when darkness comes, I keep walking.
Because my baby boy needs me.
Now more than ever,
And we both know that whatever this was, whatever it could have been,
it cannot be now,
You lied to me, after all, But don't worry about me,
Really,
I don't mind if you forget me, I've spent a 11fetime learning how to live inside the silence
left behind by people I loved.
