I feel like I’m going to break

[NEWCOMER]

I feel like nobody understands what I’m going through. And I feel like I’m to my breaking point. On April 28th I found out I had a UTI. Was prescribed Macrobid, which didn’t cure it. Was then put on Cefdinir. That too didn’t cure it. Was then put on Levofloxacin. 1 - 750mg tab X 5 days. As the doctor was walking out of my ER room he casually mentioned to “not go hiking” which caught me off guard. He explained how the Achilles can rupture with strenuous exercise and movement - but that that typically happens in people 65+. I’m 42 so he said I shouldn’t worry. I pick up my prescriptions and the pharmacist didn’t mention anything. I started meds on Monday May 11th. Pretty much just laid on the couch Monday-Wednesday. Thursday I was feeling better and went to the mall with my daughter. Walked around for about 45 mins, and then sat down while my daughter was trying clothes on. Sat for about 7 minutes and then I got up - took 1 step and heard and felt a huge pop in my lower left calf. It felt like white hot stabbing pain. I looked at my leg and didn’t see anything, but could barely walk. Made it back to the car and 20 mins had passed. Looked at my leg again and now there was a quarter size red bruise. Went back to the walk-in ER the next day. They did an XRay and told me I probably had a tear in my Achilles and needed to follow up with podiatry. Told me to not take the last dose of Levofloxacin. Started me on a 5 day course of prednisone and gave me naproxen. Put me in a walking book and sent me home. 3 days into my 5 day course of steroids all the nerve pain started, In both feet and up my legs as well as both ankles in the back just throb all day long. Now the nerve pain goes clear up to my hips. Four days ago I noticed that when I pee- I cannot feel the pee coming out of me. It’s like I have no sensation down there. Three days ago I was getting out of my truck and I twisted my knee (on my bad Achilles leg) and felt a snap, and now I have a softball size pocket of fluid above my knee cap and it snaps everytime I bend or stretch my leg. Two days ago I went to the dentist because shortly after the Levofloxacin I started having gum pain and thought maybe it was a cavity? Dentist asked if I had started any new meds? Only Levofloxacin... 😭Yesterday I woke up to left forearm hurting and my left hand tingling between my thumb and finger. I now have appointments for MRIs on both legs and left knee, a urologist/gynecologist, a physiatrist, orthopedic dr for my knee and then another appt with the podiatrist. I cannot take gabapentin or lyrica because I’m allergic to them- found that out 17 years ago when I sustained a horrible back injury with the birth of my youngest daughter. I am so mad. I feel like I’m at the end of my rope. How can these meds be so easily prescribed and then so easily ruin someone’s life? I don’t even know why I’m posting… but I figure if there’s anyone that can understand me- it’s someone in this group. Every doctor/specialist I’ve told my “story” to- doubts me that it’s the meds and look at me like I’m crazy. I really feel like I’m going to break… 😭
