Advice about parents
Hello internet welcome to… smth idk,
I came out to my parents twice in the past year and have not had a whole lot of success first last year as enby and then more recently about 7 weeks ago as trans femme. I shared my chosen name with my parents and at first my mother said it will take a while for her to adjust. Fast forward 7 weeks and I ask her about any new thoughts she’s had on my coming out. This isn’t the only time we have talked about it since then for context, she seems ok with finding a therapist for me to talk to(she really wants me to) but other than that not much support. My dad has not been great either. But for the sake of this post I will keep it short. Anyway today she said that “I will always think of you as (deadname)” and she refuses to call me by my chosen name and went so far to even say it doesn’t fit who I am. Anyone have any advice on how to deal with this?
